About
Nina Cadzow is a South West of England-based abstract artist and contemporary landscape painter. She creates visual poetry informed by nature, using found and foraged pigments and materials.
With a special interest in developing a sustainable studio practice through the use of carefully selected mediums, Nina Cadzow’s work is defined by layers of coloured texture and form.
As a personal act of creativity and expression that works alongside her life experiences, interwoven with integrity and patience, Nina’s pieces allow for a break into the realm of play and spontaneity.
‘Nina enjoys the connection with nature that she experiences while collecting mud and rocks - reminding her, as she puts it, ‘of the fact I am of the earth’. She uses minerals from her home in the south-west of England and Australia, where she was born.’
Dual heritage foraging
Born and raised in Australia, Nina has spent many of her recent years living in the South West of England, in the lively market town of Totnes, Devon. A reflection of this dual heritage can be noted throughout her artwork, through the mineral pigment colour palette created by hand from both her home in the UK and Australia.
Nina refers to her UK-foraged colours as her ‘TQ colours’ (referring to her home postcode in Devon) which are used in contrast with the vibrant, contrasting tones of Australian soil, that are reflective of the many climate zones, ranging from cool temperate, tropical, and arid desert.
